SUPPORT SERVICES

Eden Carers can provide on-going support for Carers.  This may include assistance in accessing information, advice, and personal or emotional support. 

We have two (Adult) Carers' Support Co-ordinators, covering Penrith and the Upper Eden valley.  These Carers' Support Co-ordinators are available to provide all kinds of support and also to carry out Carers' Assessments for any Carer giving "substantial and regular care" to a friend or (usually) relative.

Some Carers find the term 'assessment' off-putting, but we work hard to show them that it is not an assessment of how well they are caring, but an assessment of their own needs - to see if there is something we can do, or help them to do, to make life easier, healthier and more enjoyable for themselves and the person they care for.

Across Eden we have helped to access services such as aromatherapy, reflexology, moving and handling training, assertiveness training, transport to school, internet training and crisis respite care.

In addition to the Adult Carers' Support Co-ordinators, we also have a dedicated Young Carers Support Team supporting young people aged from 5 to 18 who are caring for a family member.
